Juan Ortega
It was so wonderful to get a letter from Paul giving me this news about our graduating class reunion. I went to look at our school year book, too many years have passed so fast, too many things to write. 1965 – 1966 at Roy – Hart was a great experience -- lots of nice people, something I always remembered with love.
After I left Lockport, we foreign exchange students had a 20-states tour. Arriving home, I began Civil Engineering studies in Peru at “Ricardo Palma” University, then studies for a masters degree at “Catholic” University.
I worked for some important international construction companies, then married my wife Rosalia. She is a nurse. We had our first child Eliana.
In 1977 I had a scholarship to study and do some research at London, England. We had a wonderful time and I had a great professional experience there. By 1978 – 1983, I went to work at INELECTRA Engineering Company, building the main projects in Venezuela (aluminum plants, electrical generation, Caracas`Metro, and teaching at Metropolitana University).
From 1983 to 1995 I did engineering consulting in Peru and was the main lecturer for the Peruvian construction committee. I am the author of 10 technical books. In the meantime, I completed two masters degrees in building construction and environmental control. In 1985, my second child Karen was born.
During the last ten years I founded two consulting engineering companies and enjoyed it very much. I also did some lectures at universities and institutions of civil engineering.
About my daughters. Eliana is the oldest; she finished her undergraduate studies as a school teacher at “San Marcos” University. She also has a master degree at “Santiago de Compostela” University in Spain, and right now she is studying in order to get a degree in psychology. She married Jimmy, who is a very good mechanical engineer. Karen is the youngest, she is almost finished with her school teacher studies at Champagnat University in Lima, Peru.
I am very happy, and I will always remember the beautiful experiences that I had in the year that I spent with you. Good luck, and God bless you all.
