The past 40 years!
I went into the Navy in 1964 where I went to tech school in Key West, FL, then went to the west coast and served on two different destroyers over the next three years, mostly deployed in South East Asia. In 1968 I re-enlisted, returned to Key West for more schooling, and then again to the west coast to another destroyer in the 7th fleet. I transferred to my last ship in 1970, then returned to Treasure Island, CA, in 1971, where I finished my time in the USN.
I stayed in California for a short time, then returned to Rochester, NY, and worked for Gleason works as an electrician in 1972. Then in March of 1973, I went to work for Fisher Price, where I was employed as an electrician.
In 1974, I married Sharon Greene (Barker Class of ‘71). We have two children Tina (31), and a son James (28). Tina resides here in central Florida and works at a hospital in Lake Wales, and James is a Navy recruiter in Daphne, Alabama. They each have a son, so we are grandparents of two. Plus, our daughter also has a stepson so that’s two plus…
In 1995 Fisher Price shut down and I went to Quebecor in Depew until 1998, then I freelanced around the area until August of 2000 when we sold the house and moved to Florida.
I’m retired from Fisher Price and am still working on old Fisher Price machinery for a plastics manufacturer here in central Florida. Sharon is working as a receptionist in a doctor’s office and will take her retirement in a year and a half.
We spend time in our pool, hosting guests and family from up north. We are active with the homeowners association where we live. I am involved with ham radio – VP of the LWRA (Lake Wales Repeater Association) -- and I spend a lot of time attending stock car races. I would love to play golf but arthritis won’t let me do everything I would like to any more!
