After graduation from RHCS in 1966, I served 2 years in the U.S. Army. I was stationed in Frankfort, Germany. I was in the service with a friend who lived in Irving, Texas. Once I was discharged from the Army in January 1969, I moved to Dallas, Texas in April 1969, with a suitcase and $200.00 in my pocket. I met my wife of 35 years, JoAnn, in September 1970.
I started working in the motor freight business as a warehouse worker and moved up to shift manager. I was working and going to junior college, where I got an Associates Degree in Business. I started my own locksmith business, D.K. Keys, 24 years ago and I still have a successful business.
JoAnn and I got married in July 1971. We have two children. Our daughter, Cybil, was born in August 1972 and our son, James “Jimmy”, was born in October 1976.
JoAnn is an administrative assistant to Perot Systems Global Procurement Director. She has been working there for 17 years and just loves it.
Cybil is married to Brian McDermott and they have two boys, Travis, 5 years, and Tyler, 3 years. She has been married 8 years and is a stay-at-home mom.
Jimmy is married to Samantha and they have two girls, Kailen, 5 1/2 years and Raegan, 4 years, and have been married 6 years. Jimmy graduated with a B.B.A., from the University of North Texas. He is now my partner in the locksmith business.
We bought a new home in June 2003 on 2 acres in Royse City, Texas. It is 30 miles east of Dallas. We have two commercial properties in Royse City and a couple of rental houses… hopefully that will make retirement easier someday.
Sorry we could not make it to the Reunion! We have enjoyed reading the other bios.
